Welcome Tom Growney Equipment
James River Equipment’s sister company, Colorado Machinery, recently acquired Tom Growney Equipment, the John Deere Construction & Forestry dealership in New Mexico and El Paso, Texas. Colorado Machinery also operates six agricultural locations under the Colorado Equipment and Wyoming Equipment names. The new combined entity will be renamed and operate as “4Rivers Equipment”. Tom Growney Equipment is based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and has four operating facilities with approximately ninety full-time employees. Like Colorado Equipment, they have a strong heritage of supporting the customers and the communities in which they operate. Congratulations to our sister company on their expansion!
The Romer Family entered into the equipment business in 1926 under the name Romer Mercantile in a small store based out of Holly, Colorado as a John Deere agricultural dealership. The dealership prospered in spite of the depression, largely due to the people and their commitment to their customers. The foundation of offering quality products and supporting them with exceptional customer service helped them expand the business and in the 1960s they grew with the addition of the Lamar, CO operation. John Deere entered into the construction business and in 1967 and Romer Mercantile followed suit, with the addition of Fort Collins (pictured above), Pueblo, and Colorado Springs stores. In 1994 the business changed its name to Colorado Machinery. With the addition of the Frederick, CO location, Colorado Machinery became four stores strong. Throughout the past decade, the Colorado operation expanded its agricultural, landscape, and lawn and garden operations into Strasburg, Greely, Rocky Ford, and Cheyenne, Wyoming. They currently have six John Deere agricultural locations supporting the front range and western plains. The vision that began in 1926 has remained consistent throughout the years: Offer quality products at the best value and support them with exceptional customer service; and to have the best people, with the best training to provide our customers better products and services.
