Customer Spotlight: Eagle’s Nest Regeneration Ministry

A Partnership Built on Purpose, People, and Community Impact
Eagle’s Nest Regeneration Ministry relies on dependable John Deere equipment and responsive dealer support to keep its campus projects moving without disruption. Through a long‑standing partnership with James River Equipment, the ministry is able to reduce downtime, complete critical land development work, and use hands‑on labor as part of the recovery journey. When equipment works and support shows up, people can focus on healing.
At James River Equipment, partnership means more than selling machines. It means standing alongside customers and organizations that rely on equipment to do meaningful work. One of those partners is Eagle’s Nest Regeneration Ministry, a faith‑based residential drug and alcohol treatment center for men located in Floyd County, Virginia.
Eagle’s Nest operates an 18‑month residential program focused on recovery, discipleship, work ethic, and life skills. Through structured work and hands‑on projects, men in the program rebuild confidence, responsibility, and a sense of purpose.
How Did the Partnership With James River Equipment Begin?
This partnership started during a critical moment in 2018.
Eagle’s Nest was in the middle of an active hardscape project when their skid steer experienced an engine failure. The breakdown brought work to a halt at a time when staying on schedule mattered.
Because of a prior rental relationship with our Salem James River Equipment location, the Eagle’s Nest team reached out to Jamie and explained the situation.
“Without hesitation,” they recalled, “Jamie told us to come demo a machine and see if it would get the job done.”
That same day, a machine was available. Eagle’s Nest was back to work, able to finish the project, and a stressful moment became the foundation of a long‑term partnership.
That demo machine became Eagle’s Nest’s first equipment purchase from James River Equipment.
Why Does Reliable Equipment Matter for a Recovery Program?
For Eagle’s Nest, dependable equipment supports more than productivity. It supports structure, accountability, and consistency.
As the campus grew, the scope of work expanded. Land clearing, grading, and ongoing property maintenance required machines that were reliable, easy to operate, and backed by service that could respond quickly if something went wrong.
Equipment Supporting the Eagle’s Nest Campus
- Skid steers for daily maintenance and site work
- Bulldozers for lot preparation and expansion
- Forestry mulching attachments for land clearing
“Pretty much everything you see that’s been developed here has been done with equipment from James River,” the team shared.
Our role is to help customers select machines that fit their application and support them with service, parts, and advice long after delivery.
How Does Hands‑On Work Support the Recovery Process?
A cornerstone of Eagle’s Nest Regeneration Ministry is its therapeutic work program.
Each day begins with classroom time, followed by structured jobsite work across the property. This routine helps participants rebuild habits, communication skills, and accountability.
One participant, now serving as a machine operator and jobsite foreman, shared how working with equipment has played a role in his recovery.
“Coming out to the job site gives me confidence,” he explained. “It helps me process, communicate, and work alongside others going through similar struggles.”
For many in the program, this is their first experience operating John Deere equipment. The smooth operation and intuitive controls made it easier to learn and stay focused on the work.
What Role Does Dealer Support Play Beyond the Equipment Sale?
At James River Equipment, we know that support doesn’t stop once a machine is delivered.
Our technicians and support teams bring hands‑on experience to every customer interaction. We help customers troubleshoot issues, plan future needs, and minimize downtime so they can focus on their mission.
This partnership has included:
- Ongoing service and operational support
- Guidance on equipment selection as needs evolved
- Community sponsorships and fundraising involvement
James River Equipment also donated a mower for Eagle’s Nest fundraising efforts, helping the organization raise funds to support its ongoing work.
“They learn work ethic, integrity, and how to do what they say they’re going to do,” our team shared. “Supporting a mission built on those values matters to us.”
Why Are Shared Values So Important in This Partnership?
This relationship works because the values align.
At Eagle’s Nest, the standard is love, integrity, and accountability. At James River Equipment, family, service, and long‑term relationships guide how we do business.
That shared culture creates trust. It allows conversations to focus on solutions, not transactions, and keeps the partnership grounded in people first.
Looking Ahead Together
While James River Equipment and Eagle’s Nest Regeneration Ministry serve different roles, the goal remains the same: helping people build stronger, more stable futures.
Through dependable John Deere equipment, experienced dealer support, and shared values, this partnership continues to support meaningful work that creates lasting impact.
