JRE and Rappahannock Tractor Form Partnership
(Ashland, VA) – Long-time John Deere agriculture dealers in eastern Virginia, James River Equipment and Rappahannock Tractor Co. are pleased to announce the merger of the two entities as equity partners as of January 1, 2010.
Two Rappahannock Tractor locations, in Tappahannock, VA and Toano, VA (dba Fleet Brothers of Williamsburg), will be added to complete the Eastern Division of James River Equipment in Virginia, including other existing agriculture locations in Ashland, Chester, and Wakefield. The Tappahannock location will operate under the new name “James River - Rappahannock” and Toano as “James River - Fleet”.
According to John Fleet Jr., Owner of Rappahannock Tractor, “As we move forward with this new alignment we will have more depth of personnel, improved business infrastructure, more service capability, more technology, and more assets to better serve our customers in an ever changing environment.”
James River – Rappahannock is looking forward to the new merger and working together to better serve its customers, employees and communities in which it does business. This merger further strengthens the organization to fit with James River’s corporate slogan, “Here for you, here for life.”

Family-owned and operated for over 80 years, James River Equipment has other agriculture locations in western Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The addition of the two new locations brings the total for the new company to 15 agriculture locations. James River Equipment also operates eight John Deere construction locations throughout Virginia and North Carolina.
