Features

The choice is YOURS! With the P-Tier graders, there are many options to fit your operation and operator needs allowing you to control how work gets done. A variety of a seat-integrated control options allows the operator the choice of premium comfort with the pattern of their choice. The two control patterns in Joysticks or fingertip can easily be swapped at anytime and the steering wheel is standard equipment with every choice!

Fingertip: Integrated into each armrest, EH fingertip controls replace traditional front-console levers while keeping the same control pattern. Steering can be controlled by using the lever on the left armrest or with the steering wheel.

Joystick: The dual-joystick option requires minimal hand motion during direction changes and gearshift while still giving the operator intuitive control over the machine. This helps reduce operator fatigue compared to other common joystick controls. Steering can be controlled by using the left joystick or with the steering wheel.

John Deere offers multiple circle options, available with and without a slip clutch to provide the best circle that fits their operation. John Deere motor graders can be configured with the following circle options:

Premium Circle is a fully sealed bearing style circle that is a John Deere exclusive. The premium circle eliminates the maintenance associated with a traditional circle such as insert replacements and adjustments. The premium circle only requires greasing every 500 hours. The premium circle also increases circle torque up to 40% and speed by up to 15% compared to the single input circle.

With the reduction in maintenance costs and no need for shimming the premium circle is a feature that adds value back to the operation.

Single Input Circle uses a single gearbox and is a good solution for customers rotating the circle under lighter loads.

Dual Input Circle uses a two hydraulic motor inputs and significantly improves the durability of the circle drive gearbox. The dual input circle provides similar circle rotate torque & speed as the single input circle and is recommended for applications that frequently rotate the circle under heavy loads.

The circle drive slip clutch is optional with the single & dual input circles, and standard with the premium circle. The circle drive slip clutch protects the moldboard, circle, circle drive gearbox and the draft frame from damage when the end of the moldboard encounters a stationary, immovable object.

Easy access maintenance and daily checks Easy access maintenance and daily checks

Uptime is EVERYTHING! P-Tier graders continue offering complete easy access service points and durability enhancing advantages that help deliver years of trouble-free service.

Ground-level service access – All daily service points [including fuel and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF)] are conveniently grouped on the left side and are easily accessible from ground-level through one door. All periodic maintenance is oriented on the right side of the machine using easy to access vertical spin-on filters.

Superior cooling package – With easily accessible coolers and a hinged swing-out fan assembly, the cooling package is quick and easy to maintain. The variable-speed and auto-reversible fan helps keep the machine running cool by quickly cleaning debris from the coolers. All models offer standard reversing fan.

Overview

John Deere continues to use its proven transmissions with 8 forward and 8 reverse gears. The Motor Grader offers two options in manual or Auto-Shift Plus. Auto-Shift PLUS adds additional functionality for the operator by modulating the clutches and reducing/removing the need for the inching pedal. This simplifies the needed operator inputs for starting and stopping the machine. Auto-Shift plus also offers Hill Hold and adjustable RPMs to further enhance their experience while plowing snow at high speeds or fine grading around obstacles.

Event Based Shifting

Event Based Shifting (EBS) is transmission shifting logic that senses the load on the engine as well as other inputs to determine the optimum shift time when the operator selects a new gear. The inching pedal is not required when performing directional changes (shuttle shifting) or changing gears. This logic gives John Deere the edge on transmission performance in grader applications.

Auto-Shift Plus

Allows operators to seamlessly transition from a stop to full speed without shifting or using the inching pedal. This is achieved by modulating the torque through the transmission, instead of the transmission acting as a direct drive. Auto-Shift automatically shifts between gears 4-8 for roading applications. Auto-Shift Plus functionality can be configured in the monitor.

Adjustable Auto Shift Plus

This feature allows the operator to set the minimum/idle to 800/1000/1200 rpm while in gear using Auto Shift Plus. Auto Shift Plus will still maintain the ability to stop the machine and maintain low ground speed while using only the brake and throttle, but the increased engine rpm allows for increased hydraulic flow. This allows the operator to have more control of the machine speed while providing additional hydraulic capacity.

Hill hold

While using Auto-Shift Plus when coming to a stop on a hill, the transmission will hold the machine and then transition back into gear when the throttle is pressed. The state of hill hold will be represented in the monitor by the following icons where green is enabled.
