The history of James River Equipment dates back to 1926 when Rudolph Romer opened his first John Deere Dealership in Holly, Colorado. In 1977, the Romers made the decision to expand eastward and purchased four construction and forestry dealerships in Virginia which were combined to form James River Equipment. James River Equipment is currently seeking a qualified small engine mower technician for our Shelby location. Analyze, diagnose & repair handheld products (example - Leaf blowers, String trimmers, Push mowers, etc)
Performs basic/complex diagnostics on agricultural / small engine equipment to determine what repairs are needed.
Performs basic/complex repairs on agricultural / small engine equipment as requested by service manager.
Operates vehicles, tools, and equipment used in machinery pre-delivery and set-up processes.
Assemble machinery components and to follow manufacturer’s pre-delivery.
Participates in all job-related training and development.
Prepares all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
Maintains current product knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
Manages condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment.
High School degree or equivalent experience
One year of relevant experience required
Experience with the repair of commercial mowing & residential mowing equipment
Ability to understand electrical & hydraulic theory of operation and diagnostics
Experience with compact utility tractors or agricultural tractors a plus
Experience with chain saws, blowers, multi-purpose saws, and string trimmers
Clean driving record, ability to lift 75 lbs., climb up and down equipment as needed
Ability to work varying shifts, weekends and possible holidays
